Every detail of the car, except the Renault engine, is designed at the factory using CAD applications. The hert of the car, from the driver’s perspective is the complex steering wheel. This hi-tech unit costs over £35,000 to produce because it does more than control the direction of the car. Gear changes, fuel mixes and aerofoil trimming can all be adjusted by the driver according to radioed suggestions from the technical teams during the race.
