Team Frednet is also considering another rover design, the WRV1.

The community-generated team hasn't decided which rover it will send to the moon, or even how it'll get there. "We want to keep the possibilities open," Bourgeois says.

 

More than a dozen teams are racing to claim the $30 million Lunar X Prize for landing a robot rover on the moon.
