How to install Windows 7 on a netbook

NetBooks like the Lenovo S10 are pre-installed with Windows XP SP3. Microsoft says that Windows 7 RC1 will run on such machines, even though Atom-based NetBook devices like the S10 only have 1GB of memory and a 160 GB hard disk. The obvious first step is to back-up everything onto a USB hard disc.
