2008 IT year in pictures: Terrorist attacks in Mumbai

The terrorist attack on Mumbai, India, on 26 November was a huge event for the world, and for IT. We chose to cover it in detail because Mumbai is the outsourcing capital of India, and the biggest off-shoring destination for high quality outsourcing. Some companies had to relocate staff and there were fears that services may be disrupted, affecting Western economies. We spoke to outsourcers to get their reactions. The attacks also raised fears of cyber-terrorism and state-sponsored hacking, and acted as a stark warning of our need to adapt to the risks of life in a global village.
