2008 IT year in pictures: Credit crunch, recession and banking crisis
The collapse of Lehman Bros on Monday 15 September brought a whole new world of pain to the IT industry, and the world economy as a whole. Lehman’s misfortunes benefited Asian investment bank Nomura, which gained 1,200 Lehman IT staff. But the catastrophic events in the UK financial services sector forced other financial services firms to rapidly change their IT strategies. The financial crisis continues to reverberate across the IT industry in all sectors, but some have, nevertheless, been able to see the funny side.
