The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is the single national housing and regeneration agency for England, with a budget of over £5 billion a year to invest in creating and regenerating thriving communities where people want, and can afford, to live.

The systems to support HCA’s £7Bn housing and regeneration programme are situated in the Gateshead data centre which has recently been extended and now provides services to 1200 internal and 3000 external users.

The HCA network provides their I.T. Service and Support across 17 offices throughout England. The hardware/software platforms are predominately HP/ Microsoft, Citrix with CORE services on HPUX and Solaris. The Government Secure Extranet is used for HCA email, which provides a secure route for electronic communications between connected organisations, and is used by all the major Government Departments.

All candidates must have Security Clearance at least at the Basic Level – BPSS.

Reporting to the Head of IT Service Delivery, the IT Operations Manager will lead a team of 5 and have full responsibility for the management of HCA’s data centre, including availability, network capacity and performance, Incident Recovery, change/problem management and database administration of HCA’s mission critical systems to support the £5Bn National Affordable Housing Programme.
