Navigation has partnered with a World Leader in their field in search for an experienced Communications Software Engineer to be responsible for the development of leading-edge technologies for the next generation of resilient optical switching products for the communications industry.
Key responsibilities are as follows:-
• Design, implementation and test of C++ code for embedded real-time systems.
• Maintenance of existing communications protocols (e.g. TL1, SNMP) and addition of new ones.
• Addition of secure interfaces (SSL, SSH, etc) to existing embedded applications.
• Development of Web and PC based tools for production support and customer use.
• Supporting systems through production and with customers.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:-
• Skilled in programming using C++ and C.
• Solid Embedded Software Development and Debugging experience.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience within a telecoms environment.
• Hold a Degree in a relevant discipline, preferably Engineering.
• Experience of developing networked applications using TCP & UDP via sockets API.
• Experience of the complete design life-cycle to include requirements capturing, release, maintenance and configuration management.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with customers to validate new features.
It would be highly advantageous to have development experience using SNMP, TL1 and the OpenSSL library.
