An opportunity has arisen for a Chief Technology Officer / Lead Developer to join our client, a brand new online forum that's about to launch on an international scale.

For this role our client is looking to recruit an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer with a track record of team management, to play a key position.

Taking a technical lead, you will be responsible for helping to develop the platform and the team behind it.

The platform, built using Ruby on Rails, covers a range of issues and provides a stage for online users to discuss their views at local, national and global levels. Users will participate by airing their views, and 3rd party developers are encouraged to use the API and build applications.

As the Chief Technology Officer / Lead Developer your responsibilities will include:

- Continuing to develop the platform - scaling and performance, recommending algorithms, etc
- Using leading edge search, database, API, mobile and infrastructure technologies across the platform
- Hiring/line managing excellent individuals to build the platform
- Delivering product features using Agile development
- Working with the developer community - creating a collaborative culture with 3rd party API developers to leverage the platform

To be considered for this position you must have:

- Ruby on Rails development experience
- A track record of managing other developers (at least 2 developers)
- Experience of delivering complex applications with a rich web app interface

As the Chief Technology Officer / Lead Developer you will also need to demonstrate a track record of delivering complex technical projects from inception through deployment, to ongoing upgrades.

In addition to a global outlook, you should also be business savvy, able to communicate with non-technical people, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. A first class degree (or equivalent) would be beneficial to your application.
