Our client, the internet portal for the UK electrical industry, is looking for an all-round web expert with a can-do attitude to join their team as a Web Portal Manager / Webmaster.

Launched in February 2003, the portal currently has 66,000 users and is growing by 2,000 new users each month. There are very few job opportunities that are as exciting as this one.

As the Web Portal Manager / Webmaster you'll be responsible for managing all technical aspects of the portal including its usability, content management and search engine optimisation. This will require someone with an active interest in new media and internet technologies, as well as the enthusiasm to continually improve the portal.

Your duties will include:

- Portal administration and site map management
- Content management including the product database, bespoke news CMS
- Creating and managing electronic newsletters
- Implementing new local applications and adaptations for the UK portal
- Setting up RSS feeds and links to partner websites
- Creating and managing mini sites (HTML, PHP, MySQL)

To be considered for this position you must have experience with the following:

- DHTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript
- XML
- PHP / MySQL
- Web environments (IE6, IE7, IE8, FF2, Safari)

As the Web Portal Manager / Webmaster you must also be a good communicator with strong English skills. Knowledge of web streaming and web conferencing would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of SEM and PPC, and/or an understanding of the electrical industry.
