£25,000 - £35,000 Negotiable Plus Pension, Extended Leave

Combining information technology and conservation, our client has built a reputation for the professional delivery of environmental management software, as well as data capture and field survey work. The company is seeing good growth, built on work that delivers clear environmental benefits, and now seeks to recruit a Product Manager / IT Consultant.

Working on leading database/GIS applications for the management of public rights of way and heritage data, the Product Manager / IT Consultant will benefit from the opportunity for the role to be developed according to the skills and interests of the candidate.

Within the role of Product Manager / IT Consultant, your core activities will require you to:

- Undertake software installations and upgrades at client sites across the UK
- Complete data migrations from a variety of client platforms
- Develop custom components and configurations for clients
- Deliver application training courses and provide remote technical support to clients
- Contribute to technical developments through the production of development specifications and testing
- Attend appropriate conferences and undertake sales-related activity as required
- Play a part in the development of the system and related projects, depending on skills

In return, the Product Manager / IT Consultant must be able to offer the company the following essential experience and skills:

- Significant database skills (MS Access, SQL Server)
- A strong understanding of database structures and principles
- GIS user experience, preferably ArcGIS and/or MapInfo
- IT degree (or equivalent)
- Confident presentational and client-facing skills
- Self-organised and motivated
- Full clean driving licence

In addition, any familiarity with operating systems and networks (e.g. Windows XP, NT, XP, 2000, Windows Server 2008, Novell Netware, Unix, Linux) would be beneficial to your application, as would previous SQL Server (or similar RDBMS) database administration experience, GIS scripting experience, Oracle experience, and knowledge of this product sector.

Candidates will programming experience (using Visual Basic, ASP.Net, PHP) or web design experience, and knowledge of web standards and accessibility issues, are particularly welcomed to apply.
