Head of Product Management. Bedford, Bedfordshire. My client develops and maintains Management Information Systems (MIS) software that supports the needs of Children’s Services directorates within Local Authorities in the UK. The purpose of this role is to manage the lifetime commercial success of a suite of products in a portfolio, acting as the product champion within the company. This involves: Managing products throughout the Product Lifecycle (PLC) from conception to withdrawal to ensure maximum return on investment is achieved. Being the ‘market expert’ within the business for their chosen area (to be determined), understanding customer’s current and future requirements and the strengths and weaknesses of competitors’ products. Playing a key, influential role in defining the company’s product strategy and in the business planning process. Being the principle “knowledge” owner for the product suite in question. Essential knowledge: Knowledge of the Children’s Services MIS software market. Knowledge of working as a Product Manager in a software company, managing products at all stages in the Product Lifecycle including new product development. Strong commercial acumen, results oriented with the ability to set targets and then deliver to deadlines. Customer handling skills are critical while at the same time maintaining an ability to achieve commercial objectives. Excellent self organisation, self motivation and time management skills. Excellent analytical skills and a logical approach to problem solving. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent presentation skills. Computer literate with an appreciation of computer systems and technology. experience of the working in a Local Authority environment in the UK, preferably within Children’s Services. Desirable skills: Knowledge of the business processes associated with key government initiatives within Children’s Services, including ICS, eCAF and Contact Point (IS Index).
