CW500: HMRC CIO Phil Pavitt, on IT transformation

HM Revenue & Customs has one of the largest IT estates in the public sector, spending hundreds of million pounds every year on the technology that gathers the tax income that funds the UK. But like every area of government, HMRC is facing huge challenges to cut costs and be more efficient.

CIO Phil Pavitt introduced a new strategy that aims to reduce the IT budget by £161m – a target he is well on the way to achieving.
