As technology became ubiquitous in our lives, coffee chain Starbucks created a “third place” between home and office, where people can connect with each other. With the emergence of digital media channels, Starbucks has been a leader in extending the connection with customers beyond the walls of its stores. Today, the mantra for the business has been to use technology to deepen these relationships and further extend the in-store experience. In this presentation, Peter Blower will explain how Starbucks has used IT to get closer to its customers and solve problems — rather than deploying technology for the sake of it.

In his current role at Starbucks, Peter Blower acts as a business relationship manager. He works with leadership teams to develop the overall strategy and also manages a results-focused team to the deliver projects and programmes within the EMEA region. Peter has held numerous roles at Starbucks over the last nine years. He started out working for the UK business and now leads the technology services team across major European markets.
