Video interview: Richard Godfrey, Peterborough City Council on local government IT challenges

Peterborough has become a big user of software as a service for council services. We speak to its head of IT, Richard Godfrey on going cloud first.

The recently appointed assistant director: Digital Peterborough City Council aims to provide council applications via Salesforce.

Godfrey says: "We will move all our applications onto the Force.com platform."

Godfrey is confident Salesforce is flexible enough to support the council's SaaS strategy. Peterborough has partnered with a Salesforce specialist to build council applications on the Force.com platform, which will then be sold on the Salesforce applications market to other local authorities.

The council is also deploying Box, and has signed a contract to run its servers on AWS rather than upgrade its aging datacentre.
