Computer Weekly recently hosted an event to celebrate the most influential women in UK IT. We
invited some of the top female IT role models in the UK to discuss the role of women in developing
the UK's high-tech economy. This video is one of a series of the speakers talking to the audience
of female IT leaders.
CIOs have a huge role to play in using technology to make their organisations greener as well
as making their existing IT greener. What kind of attributes help in this and how can you
contribute?
Following a career spanning several senior IT roles at organisations such as the BBC, The National Archives and the Home Office, Jennifer Rigby became the CIO at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in January 2011. DECC’s vision is of a thriving, globally competitive, low carbon economy and the Department plays a leadership role in promoting sustainability across Government. The Sustainability team that Jennifer leads delivered a reduction of more than 21% in carbon emissions in response to the Prime Minister’s 10% challenge. In January 2012 Jennifer became the Chair of the Green Delivery Unit responsible for leading the delivery of the Government Green ICT strategy.
