Women in IT: Nela Brown, QMUL

Universities offer many opportunities for students to get involved with running sports clubs, societies, radio stations, newspapers, online blogs as well as start-up brand new projects. There is money available to support a variety of activities and events, publications, press releases and award ceremonies showcasing student work.

Nela is a sound artist, musician, designer, technologist and researcher based in London. From 2006-2010, she was a residents sound designer with three theatre production companies and one film production company. Based on an interactive sound installations project, she wrote a research proposal to Queen Mary University of London and was awarded an EPSRC DTA PhD studentship to continue her research in the field of human-computer interaction for children in 2010.
