The recent UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen and the UK’s mandatory Carbon Reduction Commitment, which comes into force in April, have put the green agenda even more in the spotlight for IT leaders.

Sheila Upton talks to Computer Weekly editor in chief Bryan Glick about the challenges for CIOs in delivering a sustainable IT strategy.

With companies coming under increasing pressure from shareholders, regulatory bodies and employees to adopt a systematic approach to the management of increasingly scarce natural resources, the role that IT and in particular CIOs can play in this area is coming under greater scrutiny. The challenge to the CIO is in figuring where to start, how to prioritise initiatives and how to benchmark your organisation.
