The program is open to the company's 66,000 employees worldwide, according to Frank Pollare, a spokesman for the $11.5bn (£7.5bn) IT services company.
The program "is a continuation of our cost-containment efforts and will provide an opportunity for employees to pursue personal interests while still getting some income from the company," Pollare said. The company has not set a goal on how many employees it hopes will take advantage of the program. Computer Sciences has about 37,000 employees in the USA.
The company cut about 2,000 jobs last year and reduced its overall administration costs. This year the company has not cut any additional jobs as part of its cost-containment efforts, Pollare said.
