A qualification aimed at people working or aspiring to work as IT architects has been launched by the BCS Information Systems Examinations Board (ISEB).

The ISEB said people achieving the certificate in IT architecture would be able to provide technology vision to an organisation and technical leadership to a design team; understand the IT architect's roles; show awareness of IT issues in a business context and how these can help determine return on investment; understand the relationships between systems architecture and systems development; and show awareness of tools and techniques used by an IT architect.

The ISEB recommended that candidates be at least 24 years of age and have at least three years' professional IT experience.

Three-day courses leading to the exam are available from accredited organisations.
