A frustrated job-seeking rocket scientist has posted himself on eBay for potential companies to hire.

After graduating in aerospace engineering from the University of California, John Davis said he has so far been unsuccessful in winning a job in space applications at an aerospace company, so he has posted himself on eBay.

He’s also interested in unmanned aircraft technology or golf jobs, as he says he is good at playing it.

Davis has opened bidding for his services at $46,725.75 a year (£27,500) but so far he hasn’t received any bids in a 10-day auction ending 27 January.

Although San Diego-based Davis is still waiting on a job offers, his posting has already received plenty of good feedback from Norwegian readers drawn to his offer by the local press, plus one unsolicited offer of marriage.

But, as Davis says in his response, “is that a $50,000 a year job?”
