IBM has announced plans to strengthen the workflow capabilities in the forthcoming Websphere Application Server Version 5.0, which will tighten ties between application development and integration, writes Antony Adshead.

Scott Hebner, Websphere director of marketing at IBM, said the company had decided to ship the tools then the server - in a move counter to its traditional approach - so that customers could begin developing and migrating applications.

Websphere Application Server Version 5.0 will ship in November.
