Autonomic computing is a concept that has been bandied around for quite some time now.

 

 

 

IBM in particular has devoted considerable resource into developing this idea, and some claim that it was IBM that first put forward the term ‘autonomic’ for self-managing computers. Now it is thought that Microsoft may be attempting to gain ground.
