SmartEric.com, an on-line information source and job site for the self-employed, may be a useful resource for IT contractors seeking business advice or work, according to its co-founder, management consultant Jim Bewsher.
The site, which offers freelancers advice on issues such as insurance and setting up a business, allows contractors to post their CVs on-line at no charge. Companies seeking staff with IT or other skills can then search the SmartEric database for free, making contact with suitable candidates via e-mail, telephone or post.
Bewsher believes the service allows contractors access to a wide variety of projects across a range of industries, and offers them the opportunity to make contact with companies who may not visit the more 'specialist' IT recruitment sites.
"From our own experience we recognise that it can be quite lonely when you start out or operate as a freelancer. People tend to need advice and support, and that is what we aim to provide, in addition to helping the self-employed find work," adds Bewsher.
