Salesforce.comhas partnered withAdobeto provide cloud-based application development
tools to businesses.
The partnership combines Adobe's flash technology with
Salesforce's
Force.com platform to enable developers and IT departments to
build and deploy enterprise applications.
These can be extensions and enhancements of existing Salesforce
CRM implementations or new applications.
"Bringing together Adobe Flash and Force.com will enable the
creation of exciting new kinds of business applications that run in
the cloud," said Ariel Kelman, vice-president, platform marketing
at Salesforce.com.
The cloud-based internet applications can be deployed to
end-users via the browser though Adobe's Flash Player or directly
to the desktop through Adobe AIR runtime environment software.
The new builder is integrated with Adobe LiveCycle Data Services
that lets clients automatically synchronise data between the
Force.com database and the Adobe AIR local data store.
This allows developers to build apps that connect between the
browser and the desktop.
Analysts say the partnership is a coup for Adobe's Flash
platform, which faces competition from Microsoft's Silverlight
product.
