PayPal customers in the US are suffering intermittent problems with withdrawals and deposits from their accounts.
PayPal is owned by eBay and is the electronic payment system used for closing deals on the leading auction site.
The company admits there has been a problem since the beginning of September, with a number of customers being hit with duplicate withdrawals and others being confused with duplicate deposits.
The duplicated withdrawals have sent some customer accounts into the red. Customers have been angered at PayPal’s suggestion that they should complete a formal chargeback request for each erroneous transaction instead of PayPal automatically correcting the problem.
PayPal is blaming a third-party processing error for the continuing problems, and says it is working to fix the system.
