Coventry - the UK's fifth largest building society, with one million customers and £9bn in assets - has recently upgraded the back-office supporting its ATMs to improve performance. it has installed Open/2 software from S2 Systems.
This software, running on Sun servers and integrated with Oracle's 9i database, will help the society move towards the next phase of its ATM overhaul - adding mobile functionality.
Giles Chipperfield, Coventry Building Society's chief information officer, said, "Our focus is on member value while expanding the variety of distribution channels. Open/2 supports these efforts while providing greater latitude to introduce newer technologies such as smartcard and mobile top-up services."
The timing of the roll-out of the services has not been finalised, he added.
