A record number of IT professionals are to go forward for the final judging stage of the British Computer Society’s third IT Professional Awards.
A total of 94 finalists have made it to the last round of the Computer Weekly sponsored awards, which aim to recognise IT innovation and personal ingenuity across all sectors of business, academia, government and public service.
The winners of the business achievement, technological innovation, professional development, e-GIF and individual excellence award categories will be announced at the awards ceremony on 29 September 2005 at London’s Park Lane Hilton
The same event will also see the BCS President’s Awards for 2005 handed out to reward the best strategic implementation of mobile computing and achievement in enhancing employment opportunities for women in IT.
Candidates for the prizes include Leeds City Council, with a digital pen and paper system; the Charles Wells Brewery; eCourier’s electronic courier system and a McDonald’s handheld device system for speeding up customer food orders.
