American Airlines' cargo division has launched online booking at AACargo.com.
Using the new online system, AA Cargo customers can sign in for booking access to the American Airlines global freight network anytime, anywhere.
Dave Brooks, president of AA Cargo, called the system simple and intuitive for customers.
"With online booking in the mix, our customers can streamline the entire shipping process from beginning to end and customise an air cargo management system that fits their operation," he said.
The booking technology is powered by London-based Global Freight Exchange (GF-X), which provides a neutral trading platform for air freight carriers and forwarders. AA Cargo is a member of GF-X.
Other GF-X members can access AA booking information through the GF-X platform or the online booking system.
AA Cargo customers who are not members of GF-X can access the information only through AACargo.com, said Julia Ford, an analyst in AA Cargo's sales and marketing division.
AA Cargo is the first carrier, so far, to use GF-X's technology to create a booking platform on its own website.
