The 20th BCS Programming Competition has opened for entries. The competition is for teams of up to five people, who must solve problems against the clock.

Teams praise the competition as a training event for the industry and a chance for students to compete with IT professionals.

For 2004, the languages are C, C++, Java, Visual Basic and Eclipse. The BCS also hopes to offer C#.

The closing date for entries is 31 January. Regional heats will be held on 6 March and the final will be on 3 April. All participants receive an exclusive T-shirt and heat winners receive prizes. The champions win further prizes, BCS shields and the trophy.
