Sales of business applications are increasing again after a significant downturn in 2001/2002.

Sales of business applications are increasing again after a significant downturn in 2001/2002.

According to the Business Application Software Developers Association, sales for the second quarter of 2003 are up on the same quarter in 2002 and suppliers are demonstrating increased confidence in future orders and prospects in the pipeline.

"The fastest growing area is undoubtedly e-business," said Dennis Keeling, chief executive at Basda.

"Sales of supply chain and e-procurement applications are showing strong growth and web applications have more than doubled since last year," he said.

Keeling added that although suppliers indicated optimism there was still an atmosphere of caution after one of the worst periods in the software industry.
