The competitive advantage for today's retailers will be making cost-optimal decisions at every point of the demand and supply chain and using optimisation techniques to influence consumers. The optimisation applications for the demand chain all feed each other where price and promotion optimisation feed replenishment forecasts, which feed space planning optimisation and on to cost-optimised inventory.
