Contractors organise IR35 demonstration

Tina Milton Contractors greeted the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown with a demonstration against the IR35 proposals, when he arrived at the Financial Services Agency (FSA) in Canary Wharf on Jan 20.

Word broke of Brown's visit half an hour before his arrival, and a handful of contractors surrounded the FSA building with placards that read, 'Stop the IR35'. The protest was planned via e-mail, and a spokeswoman for the PCG said, "Brown entered the building sheepishly, and it just goes to show how quickly and ingeniously contractors can make use of technology."
