The regulatory nightmare faced by IT users comes under scrutiny at the first major event for the newly-founded E-Business Regulatory Alliance on 9 October in central London.

Top IT lawyers and specialists will address the core issues about current and upcoming UK and European Union IT-related legislation and its potential impact.

Topics include: directors' personal liabilities on staff monitoring; legal implications of international data transfer; online contracts; copyright and website content; and e-marketing and privacy regulation.

The alliance, a not-for-profit organisation launched this summer to provide a one-stop information shop for users and organisations, is working closely with several groups, including the Law Society, user groups and various universities, to interpret the implications to IT users of upcoming UK and EU IT legislation.
