A website has been set up that allows people to send messages to friends and family when they're dead.

Farawayfish is a free service that allows people to create a profile and store their thoughts, along with photos, music and blogs.

Users of the site can send messages after their death by setting the times and dates they want these to be delivered - up to 10 years after their death.

The user assigns at least two friends who can confirm their death. These can then go online to activate the account.

To verify the information, Farawayfish then sends an e-mail to the friends which contains a secure link to the site. The user name and password of the person who has died is then used to provide confirmation of death.

To help prevent hoaxes, an e-mail and text message will also be sent to the account holder, asking them to stop the process if they are still alive.

If they are dead, they may not be able to keep their blog up to date though.
