More than 40% of IT workers feel unsupported at work, according to a survey by the Samaritans.

The survey shows that workplace bullying is endemic in UK businesses with 80% of employees affected.

It was done for Stress Down Day, which is on February 1. The day is part of a national campaign to encourage people to take better care of their health at work and reduce stress levels.

Young employees are also more susceptible to stress, the survey found.

Joe Ferns, from the Samaritans, said, "Job related stress has a serious and unrecognised impact on the health of the nation and the economy. 13 million working days were lost to stress, depression and anxiety in 2005 at a cost of £3.7bn to UK businesses."
