South Gloucestershire Council has won funding from the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to allow its children's data management systems to work with ContactPoint.

ContactPoint is the government's central database for children's data, which will allow practitioners to find out who else is working with an individual, so that authorities can provide a more co-ordinated response to each child's needs.

The funding was secured by South Gloucestershire Council to integrate a school-based system from Capita Children's Services called SIMS, and its authority-wide children's data system, One.

Once the development work is completed, data entered into either of these systems with regards to a child, or the individuals working with them, will be shared with ContactPoint automatically.

Any development work will help other schools who use SIMS or One to be ContactPoint enabled.
