Oracle has appointed Gregory Maffei, a former senior Microsoft executive, as president and chief financial officer.
Maffei joined Microsoft in 1993 and became CFO there in 1997. He left in 2000 to become chief executive officer at 360Networks.
As well as being the Oracle CFO, his responsibilities will cover legal, human resources, property, and manufacturing and distribution areas.
Maffei replaces Harry You, who left Oracle to become CEO of IT services company BearingPoint.
Oracle has two other presidents. Safra Catz is responsible for global operations, and was interim CFO before Maffei’s arrival. And Charles Phillips is responsible for global field operations such as marketing, sales channels and customer programmes.
Oracle said the company would continue to have three presidents covering different areas.
