The BCS is increasing its worldwide influence with the formation of four more international branches - including one in the US - taking the total to 14.

Groups have been approved for the US, Switzerland, Greece and Mauritius. Some overseas groups support UK IT specialists working abroad; others are for local IT staff.

The US group is planning its first meeting next month, possibly using videoconferencing or a webcast to reach the 370 BCS members in the US. Two BCS groups are already established in Canada. A group covering the Gulf is being considered.
