AOL has awarded HP a three-year contract to provide support services for its server and storage systems.

As part of the deal HP will provide maintenance and support for equipment from HP and other suppliers in AOL datacentres across multiple US locations, said AOL.

The contract extends an existing contract between the two companies.

AOL said it preferred to have a single point of contact for the support services formost of its servers in its multi-supplier environment, so that it could achieve better alignment between IT service levels and business needs.

The deal will see HP manage support for more than 15,000 servers from multiple vendors, which include 9,000 from HP.
