CSC signs Sun in £200m management systems deal

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has signed a five-year £200m applications management contract with Sun Microsystems.

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has signed a five-year £200m applications management contract with Sun Microsystems.

Under the global contract the IT services company will provide all applications development and support services to Sun.

This will include the management of all Sun’s internal business systems like finance, manufacturing, messaging, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and data warehousing.

"Flexibility is one of the greatest competitive weapons in the IT industry," said Sun chief information officer Bill Vass. "We will operate at lower cost and with more flexibility to respond to market dynamics."

CSC said it will use Sun’s own Java Enterprise System as part of the central infrastructure to maintain Sun’s systems.
