PowerChain 4.0 Web-based software allows manufacturers to model all aspects of multidimensional supply chains simultaneously while linking sales and operations planning teams to participate in the process to close the gap between forecasts and actual productions.
The suite features time-phasing templates designed to support precise inventory strategies that address unique performance requirements of each phase of the product lifecycle, said Jim Lawton, vice-president of product management for Optiant.
Multistage analysis is designed to let business users quickly determine the effect of cycle time reduction strategies, such as changing internal manufacturing practices or shortening supplier lead times.
"If I were to reduce manufacturing cycle times at a particular point... what kind of impact would that have financially?" Lawton said. "Up until now, people have been making these decisions in a vacuum. Oftentimes, sub-optimal decisions were getting made and people were ending up with a supply chain that was a lot less efficient than it could be."
PowerChain 4.0 ships this week and licence costs start at $350,000 (£227,828).
