Survey says network speed hindering British business
British workers claim their network speed and reliability is critical in their productivity and competitiveness, according to research from Brocade. A survey of 100 business IT end users found the network to be hindering personal and corporate performance; 28% of those questioned named it their "pet hate."
VMware planning Code2Cloud platform
VMware is planning to launch a new service designed to better manage the development of applications on the SpringSource Java development platform. The Code2Cloud platform will provide a fully hosted platform for developers to create and manage SpringSource code.
Colt earnings up 5.4%, revenue down 1.8% for Q3
European service provider Colt saw its Q3 earnings rise 5.4% to reach $117.8 million for the quarter. However, the company's revenue declined 1.8% to $545 million.
Google resumes work on Oklahoma data centre
Google has said it will resume work on its Pryor, Okla., data centre project. The $600 million project was originally scheduled to be finished in 2009 but was delayed due to the slowing economy. The project is now set for completion by the end of 2011.
Green IT projects at risk due to cut backs
Green IT projects are at risk of being discontinued due to cost cutting measures, according to Compass Management Consulting. A review of sustainable IT projects in global corporations and major government departments by the firm found too many first-generation green IT projects were poorly defined or lacked meaningful measures of success. This is leading to the worth of green IT projects being questioned more than usual.
