How do I make the move from university to employment?
I have a Higher National Diploma in computer systems engineering from Greenwich University, and would like a pointer as to what my next step should be. I have completed nine months' work experience in computer refurbishing.
Go into first-line support or seek more qualifications
You are in an enviable position as you could move in a number of directions, depending on what you are looking for long term. With your current qualifications, you could move straight into a first-line support or helpdesk role and gain valuable experience for your next move. Alternatively, if you are set on a development-based career you could enrol on a programming course - C++, Java C# - and then look for a slightly more challenging position as a junior developer or software analyst.
