Multicast protocols provide more efficient handling of streaming in cases where many viewers will watch the same content (live or recorded).

Inktomi recently announced that half of the large enterprises it talks to either have multicast enabled, partially enabled or plan to enable it. However, we are not seeing high levels of usage at present.
