SeeWhy ‘closes loop’ on real-time BI

SeeWhy Software has launched an "SOA-savvy" business intelligence (BI) tool designed for users needing real-time analysis.

Rather than load data into a database or warehouse for manual analysis, SeeWhy uses event stream processing to analyse the data as it passes through middleware, databases and websites as well as the corporate network. This "in-flight" data is compared against historical data to provide real-time information and automation.

The results can be used to trigger processes in business process management (BPM) tools, e-commerce websites or third-party applications, enabling what SeeWhy describes as "closed loop" business operations optimisation.

“With tools like SeeWhy, companies can maximise their SOA investments by using real-time data to create smart processes and applications,” said Jason Bloomberg, a senior analyst at ZapThink.

The tool comes in two forms: Community Edition, which can be downloaded free from www.seewhy.com, and Enterprise Edition, which is available on subscription.

With the addition of an improved graphical interface, business users can design, configure and deploy business metrics without needing to call in IT specialists. A Hot Deploy feature allows analytic scenarios to be deployed to live event streams.
