VeriSign offers network vulnerability service

Antony Savvas

VeriSign has launched a service that pinpoints vulnerable parts of a business' network.

The Security Risk Profiling Service bores down to the device level, and covers systems including firewalls, routers, and vulnerability management platforms.

The service analyses and records discovered threats and can then give them a risk score covering individual devices or whole business units.

VeriSign is using technology from partner Skybox Security to deliver the service to customers. The service generates a map of network assets, uses vulnerability simulation models, and analyses the data before delivering the risk scores.

VeriSign monitors company networks as threats develop and can provide early warnings to users through its iDefense security intelligence arm.

Allan Carey, an analyst at IDC, said, “Firms currently get security information from disparate systems, the VeriSign service can automate the collection and display of vital information, and help with risk and compliance decisions.”
