The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, covers both the PSINet and Via Net.Works branded parts of the network. The deal will also expand Interoute’s data security, hosting and data centre service offering to enterprises.
James Kinsella, Interoute executive chairman, said, “Not only does this acquisition enable us to add thousands of new enterprise customers to the Interoute network, but also it provides them with stability and continuity after some turbulent times in the telecoms sector.”
With basic voice and data services still coming down in price, both Interoute and Via Net.Works have struggled in the market.
Interoute said it would be offering new services to existing Via Net.Works customers, and it would be saving itself money by eradicating duplicated operating costs at the combined companies.
