Security gets all professional

Leading companies such as Royal Bank of Scotland, BT and HBOS are lending their support for the newly minted Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP).

The DTI-backed institute of IT security will put security professionals on the same footing as accountants and lawyers, providing them with a clearer framework for skills development and accreditation in addition to a professional code of conduct.

Members of all levels will be able use the institute for advice on technical and management training. More senior members, perhaps with board aspirations, will be able to use it as a source of mentors to help them pick up the non-technical, softer skills essential to their career growth.
