IBM thinks weight

Antony Savvas

IBM has launched its smallest and lightest ThinkPad with a fingerprint reader.

The ThinkPad X41 notebook weighs only 2.7 pounds and the fingerprint reader addresses an increase in demand for mobile devices with extra security.

The X41 can also use new ThinkPad software which automatically performs a complete system hardware check and installs the latest drivers, BIOS, and options needed for peak performance.

The X41 is equipped with the Intel Pentium M Processor and includes ThinkPad Power Manager, allowing end-users to have control over the thermal management of their notebook PC.

This feature is designed to extend the battery life of the notebook by controlling the speed of the processor and fan to match the type of applications being used.

The X41 costs from £1,110.
