Akamai Technologies and Macromedia have announced the availability of Akamai streaming with Macromedia Flash, to improve streaming performance to end-users.

Akamai provides solutions to media companies that want to efficiently distribute their online media.

As a result of the agreement Akamai customers can take advantage of a new on-demand Flash Streaming media service.

By combining the Macromedia Flash Communication Server and the Akamai EdgePlatform, customers will benefit from greater scalability, increased reliability and capacity, and faster delivery to viewers, said Akamai.

By using Flash Player, end-users are able to instantly view video with no waiting and no need to download a player.
